My name is Kitty. I was born in Romania and learned basic English through Cartoon Network and English-speaking films as a child. I am not only native-level fluent in English, including American and British slang, but I also have a Master's Degree in English Literature. I am also a published poet. Things I enjoy are K-pop, karaoke, dance, fashion and make-up, wrestling, collecting stuffed animals, scrapbooking, gaming and journaling. I like to teach through stories and visual cues mostly. One example of homework I give is to take walks and write, to the best of the student's ability and level, a list of what they saw, and write a short account of their trip. My approach is very story based, coupled with a robust focus on repetition. In my own language studies at university I have found that difficulties with vocabulary, grammar or syntax can be improved by writing words and phrases over and over. Another very effective (and preferred) method is placing sticky notes with words or phrases or definitions in places one spends a lot of time in. For example, as I was learning Korean I placed sticky notes above the sink, on the side of my make-up table mirror, bathroom mirror and even on the wall directly in front of my toilet!
